Senkang Floating Wetland

We went to sengkang floating wetlands that day to do water testing. The first thing we did was to take a bucket of water from the reservoir to test on. We then started observing the water and saw that the water had particles suspending inside it , which were dirt and algae. After that, we tested the turbidity of the water and after testing, it was 40 JTU. Next was the testing of the temperature, and found that it was at 30°C. Followed by the testing the amount of dissolved oxygen which was 4ppm. Finally, we tested the pH of the water and the result of the testing was 7 which meant that the reservoir's water was healthy as 7 is also the level of pure water.

From this activities, we learnt a lot about the reservoir and also learned where our water comes from and how Singapore try to collect as much water as possible by making more reservoirs and drains. Lastly, we hope to visit the reservoir sometime soon!!!

Zoologist

The requirements to become a zoologist is having a good knowledge of animals and does not hate to work with animals. The person also must go to college to study core science and do well in biology in secondary school. In graduate school, the person may want to specialize in genetics, embryology, or another area in animal science. Graduates with a bachelor's degree can get some jobs, such as advanced biological technician, but their opportunities for advancement are limited . The person usually need a doctoral degree .This adds up to a total of about 21 years of studying.

Zoologists are biological scientists who study animals. They observe animals both in their natural habitats and in the laboratory in order to learn as much as possible about animal life. Zoologists study the origin and development of animal species, the habits and behavior of animals, and the interaction between animals and their environment. They also do research to learn how animal diseases develop and how traits are passed from generation to generation . Their field is zoology, or animal biology. Zoology is a broad field. It includes the study of animals as varied as elephants, kangaroos, and killer sharks. Zoologists work in all areas of animal life, studying both simple and complex processes.

The person is Steve Irwin. Steve Irwin , nicknamed "The Crocodile Hunter", was an Australian television personality, wildlife expert, zoologist and conservationist. Irwin achieved worldwide fame from the television series The Crocodile Hunter, an internationally broadcast wildlife documentary series which he co-hosted with his wife Terri. Irwin discovered a new species of turtle. Later given the honour of naming the newly discovered species, he named it Irwin's turtle , after his family. Another newly discovered Australian animal – a species of air-breathing land snail, Crikey steveirwini, was named after Irwin in 2009.

In 2001, Steve Irwin was awarded the Centenary Medal by the Australian government. He was recognised as Tourism Export of the Year. He was also nominated in 2004 for Australian of the Year .  He spent a lot of time away from his family and he had to face challenges to catch many crocodiles.
